A ranking policeman who jumped to the assistance of a partner who was ambushed by a knife attacker has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Courage.
Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a weapon to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a road collision in Whalley Range in July 2023.
Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.
